Subject: 21295/Appl/TDOT/IndAccess/BurnerSystemsInternational Date: Fri, 19 Nov 1993 09:13:43 -0500 RESOLUTION NO. 21295 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR ASSISTANCE AND CONSTRUCTION OF AN INDUSTRIAL ACCESS ROAD FOR BURNER SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL, INC. UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE INDUSTRIAL HIGHWAY ACT OF 1959. WHEREAS, the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee, is vitally interested in the economic welfare of its citizens and wishes to provide the necessary leadership to enhance this area's capabilities for growth and development; and WHEREAS, the provision of jobs to area citizens by local industry is both necessary and vital to the economic well-being of the City of Chattanooga; and WHEREAS, the Industrial Highway Act of 1959 authorizes the Tennessee Department of Transportation to contract with cities and counties for the construction and maintenance of "Industrial Highways" to provide access to industrial areas and to facilitate the development and expansion of industry within the State of Tennessee; and WHEREAS, Burner Systems International, Inc. plans to construct a 125,000 square foot facility in order to consolidate its Rossville and Lewisburg plants and expand its operations to manufacture and distribute manifolds and burners in Chattanooga; and 0C WHEREAS, the construction of an industrial access road to serve said proposed plant is necessary and vital to the successful completion of this project and the future economic well-being of this area; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to make application to the Tennessee Department of Transportation for assistance and construction of an industrial access road for Burner Systems International, Inc. under the provisions of the Industrial Highway Act of 1959, and pursuant to the "Rules and Regulations for the Construction of Industrial Highways" promulgated by the Commissioner of Transportation.
